
SAFARI MISSION 2023
In June, 2023, a group of 23 volunteers traveled to Kenya. The group enjoyed stellar travel/safari experiences and charitable, volunteering activities. The trip started with great accommodations at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi. The group then left the reserve and started their mission trip to Eldoret, Kenya. They spent 4 days immersing themselves in cultural experiences with the local community, touring the various churches and schools that Oglah's Hope Foundation has supported and funded over the years. The highlight of the mission days was when the group conducted self-development and financial literacy workshops to 436 participants - 53 high school girls, 257 high school boys and 126 women.
INTRODUCTION
PROGRAM

Day 1 - 2:
Nairobi Excursions
David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage:
A sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating orphaned elephants located within Nairobi National Park.
Rothchild Giraffe Center:
A conservation center dedicated to preserving and protecting the endangered Rothschild giraffes.

Day 3-7:
Masaai Mara National Reserve
The group left Nairobi and traveled to the infamous Masai Mara Game Reserve where they spent three and a half days at the Mara Simba Lodge. Daily activities included multiple morning and evening wildlife game safaris , nature walks, pre-dawn balloon safaris and a visit to a local Maasai Village.
Day 8 Mission Day:
School and Church Visits
The group embarked on a meaningful journey to Eldoret Kenya, where they combined education and spirituality. During their school visit, they engaged with eager students, exchanging knowledge, and fostering cultural understanding. Their church visit brought them closer to the community, where they shared faith, uplifting spirits, leaving a positive impact on both the young minds and the local congregation.

Day 8 Mission Day:
Community Development
The group visited local schools and engaged with hundreds of primary school students, teachers and community leaders. They also planted 500 new trees at Lemook Primary School.


Day 9 Mission Day:
Youth Self Development Workshops
The highlight of the mission days was when the group taught Quantum Leap self-development workshops to 436 high school students - 53 girls at AIC Chebisaas Girls High School and 257 boys at AIC Chebisaas Boys High School.

Day 10 Mission Day:
Women Financial Literacy Day
&
Homecoming Cultural Celebration
The group conducted a financial literacy and business development workshop to 126 women.
The group also found a rich tapestry of traditions and values that spoke to the heart of Kenya. From vibrant celebrations of music and dance to the communal spirit evident in daily interactions, they discovered a profound sense of unity and shared identity that left them humbled and grateful.
